The Salkantay trek represents an impressive experience that links us to Machu Picchu, offering panoramas composed of glaciers, mountains and the picturesque Humantay lagoon, surrounded by lush vegetation, making the journey one of the most beautiful.

Inca Trail Expeditions Peru proposes an experimental trek, an authentic connection between adventure and nature. Its objective is to depart from conventional tourist routes, avoiding superficial activities to immerse oneself in an immersive cultural environment.

This physical, cultural and spiritual journey is a unique experience that leads through the majestic Salkantay Sacred Trail to the legendary Machu Picchu. We will cross the highest snow-capped peak of the Vilcabamba mountain range until we reach Llactapata, located behind the Machu Picchu mountain. Finally, we will head to Aguas Calientes, located at the foot of the Historic Sanctuary of Machu Picchu.

Day 2: Conquer the Salkantay Pass, the trek’s highest point, and descend into the lush cloud forests of Collpapampa, where you’ll relax at the Lodge del Cielo.

Day 3: Explore tropical valleys, coffee plantations, and waterfalls as you make your way through La Playa and Santa Teresa to Aguas Calientes, the gateway to Machu Picchu.

  •  Night 2: Experience our stay at Lodge del Cielo in Collpapampa camp. Rest in a comfortable bed with a quality camping mattress at no additional cost. The camp is nestled among the majestic sacred mountains.
  •  Night 3: The hotel stay is incorporated and is located in the town of Aguas Calientes, specifically in the Casa de Luz, a lodge that offers amenities such as private bathroom, hot water, Wi-Fi connection and breakfast. Aguas Calientes is known as the town of Machu Picchu, and hotel costs may vary according to individual preferences and budget.
  •  Note : Normally, there are usually no changes to campsites, cabins or hotels after confirmation. However, this situation could change due to government regulations, authorizations, unfavorable weather conditions or even the physical health of our visitors. Any adjustment in this regard by Inka Trail Expeditions Peru will be communicated in advance and in the shortest possible time.
  •  Camping equipment: Dining and kitchen tents, tables, chairs and cooking equipment (all carried by our porters and horses).
  •  1 duffel bag: You can put your personal luggage, up to (7 kgs / 14.02 lbs). Including your sleeping bag; This bag will be carried by our horses.
  •  Mule / horse load: We will give you your duffel bag at your briefing the night before; to carry the things you will need. You will not have access to your duffel bag until you arrive at your overnight camp. On day 1, our mules / horses carry all camping equipment and your personal luggage allowance (7 kgs / 14.02 lbs). On day 2, your luggage will be transported by car or train to your destination until we arrive at Machu Picchu.
  •  Professional trekking chef: A professional chef specialized in cooking on the trail, with an assistant, will prepare all your delicious meals throughout our journey on the trail to replenish your energy every day.
  •  Meals:3 breakfasts, 3 lunches, 3 dinners.
