New Year in the Heart of the Inca Empire

Special event for those who want to celebrate New Year in Cusco.

Include: Cusco City tour + Sacred Valley of the Incas + Machu Picchu + New Year' eve party.

Experience the vibrant chaos and excitement of New Year's Eve in Cusco, one of the top destinations to celebrate this special night in Peru.

As the holidays approach, Cusco buzzes with anticipation. Tourists from across Peru, Latin America, Europe, and beyond flock to the city, filling up its hostels and hotels. The streets come alive with vendors, while locals from the surrounding regions arrive to join the festivities and sell their handmade crafts.

A unique aspect of Cusco's New Year celebrations is the fascinating superstitions that locals embrace. Yellow is the color of good luck, and you'll see everything from yellow hats, confetti, flowers, and even underwear for sale. Fireworks light up the city, with children selling them on the streets and families setting them off as they wander through the night. The sky over Cusco explodes into a kaleidoscope of colors, with fireworks illuminating the hills for hours.

At the stroke of midnight, crowds flood Cusco's iconic Plaza de Armas to run in circles for good luck. Some locals carry suitcases as they dash around, a tradition believed to bring luck in travel for the coming year.

Celebrate with us and enjoy one of the most incredible festivals in the world. Our exclusive New Year's program includes a tour to Machu Picchu and the best of Cusco, offering an unforgettable start to your year.

How to Prevent Altitude Sickness in Cusco and Machu Picchu

Cusco is located at an altitude of over 11,000 feet above sea level, and other nearby destinations like Machu Picchu, while at a lower elevation, are also situated at high altitudes. Altitude sickness can affect anyone, even healthy individuals, though symptoms are usually mild.

Certain medical conditions, such as respiratory illnesses, or the use of medications (like sleeping pills) can increase the risk of altitude sickness. It’s a good idea to consult your doctor before traveling.

To help your body acclimatize and reduce the risk of altitude sickness, follow these tips:

  • Stay hydrated: Drink at least 4 liters of water per day, in addition to other fluids like tea or soups.
  • Avoid alcohol and tobacco: These substances can interfere with your body's oxygen supply and cause dehydration.
  • Eat small, frequent meals: Focus on meals high in carbohydrates to maintain your energy levels.
  • Take regular breaks: Allow your body time to acclimatize and avoid strenuous activity.

By following these simple steps, you can fully enjoy your visit to Cusco and Machu Picchu, minimizing the effects of altitude sickness.
