Explore the Lares Trek’s diverse landscapes, from the highlands of Cusco to the lush valleys leading to Machu Picchu. Start with a trip to the village of Calca and then to the hot springs of Lares, where you can unwind in natural thermal pools surrounded by majestic mountains.
On Day 1, enjoy a scenic bus ride followed by a 4-hour uphill hike to Huacawasi, where you’ll spend the night under the stars. Day 2 takes you to Abra Huacawasi (4300 m) with panoramic views, followed by a descent to Auroruy Cocha and then to Yanahuara, where you’ll relax after the day’s trek. Day 3 includes a transfer to Ollantaytambo, where you can explore the town and visit the archaeological site. From Ollantaytambo, take a scenic train ride to Aguas Calientes and enjoy a final dinner. Day 4 begins early with a bus ride to Machu Picchu Sanctuary, where a guided tour reveals the city’s ancient secrets. For those seeking more adventure, consider climbing Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain for breathtaking views. After returning to Aguas Calientes, take the train back to Cusco, reflecting on the journey through the Lares Trek’s remarkable landscapes.
