Cusipata – Vinicunca Mountain Trek: 13 Km (8.08 miles).
Early in the morning at 5 am, we will pick you up from your hotel to embark on our journey to the Rainbow Mountain, Vinicunca. The initial leg of our adventure involves a 1:30-hour drive on paved roads to the community of Cusipata. From there, we continue on the Cusipata branch for an additional 30 minutes until we reach Chillihuani village. Along this route, we pass through picturesque locations such as Tintinko, Rio Tigre, and get a glimpse of the Surina Mountain from Llacto village. After passing the local government control point in Cusipata, you'll have the opportunity to observe the natural flora and fauna, including llamas, alpacas, vicuñas, etc. We then proceed along a road for about 20 minutes until we reach the starting point of our walk.
The trek to Rainbow Mountain begins, taking approximately 1.5 hours. During this journey, you'll enjoy panoramic views of the Red Valley, mountains with the Ausangate snow peak, and small lagoons. A lunch break is scheduled at this point, providing an opportunity to appreciate and capture photographs of the colorful mountain. Subsequently, we commence our descent back to the starting point, taking approximately 1.5 hours.
Our transportation awaits us there, and we return to Cusco, with an estimated travel time of 2 hours. Anticipate arriving at around 5:00 p.m., and we will drop you off at your hotel.
