The recent announcement by the National Meteorological and Hydrological Service of Peru (SENAMHI) on heavy rains and electrical discharges in various areas of the Cusco region leads us to issue the following recommendations, through the Regional Management of Foreign Trade, Tourism and Handicrafts:
✅ Recommendations for tourism operators:
- Temporary suspension of activities:Tour operators are urged to temporarily suspend excursions to:Adverse weather conditions may put the life and safety of tourists at risk.
- 7 Colores Mountain and Palccoyo
- Humantay Lagoon
- Other tourist attractions located in the high Andean areas of Cusco.
- Review and update security protocols:
- Constantly inform tourists about weather conditions through SENAMHI: Consult here.
- Clear and effective communication:
- Ensure that visitors are aware of the risks associated with activities and comply with all safety recommendations.
✅ Recommendations for national and international tourists:
- Verification of authorized tour operators:
- Before hiring tourist services (agencies, guides, hotels, etc.), verify that they are officially registered in the following MINCETUR link : Directorio de Prestadores de Servicios Turísticos.
- Avoid hiring informal agencies that do not have the necessary licenses and permits.
